Metals you can trust under the loupe. We alloy our own metals from .9999 gold during the casting process and use single melt shot only, metal that has been through one melt to make shot and nothing else. That is why we can guarantee porosity free castings and most houses cannot.

How Trade Pricing Works

RMC follows the Geller Blue Book for most repair and finishing work and offers 40 to 60 percent off to trade accounts, so you can quote your customer at retail and keep the difference. We adjust pricing with gold prices and the cost of supplies. Until gold stabilizes and the new book is out, we recommend quoting your customers from the current Geller Express Pricing, since that is the benchmark we quote from. • Production, finish work and stone setting follow Geller Blue Book Express Pricing.
• Casting is quoted per job. Size, design, lead time and quantity all change the number, so we look at the pattern before we quote.
• Every quote is written before anything ships, so the invoice never surprises you.

Our Written Guarantees

RMC Production Guarantee

Porosity free. Several things cause porosity and contamination in a finished casting: design, sprues, material (wax or resin, investment, metal), casting method and temperatures, to name a few. So we insist on certain criteria in order to offer the guarantee. The big ones:

• Resin prints must be from RMC. Yes, we can cast yours, but there is no guarantee on them.
• Wax carvings and injections must be standard carving wax and approved by RMC. We carve, print and inject as well.
• The design must be approved by RMC and confirmed free of issues that cause porosity or contamination from investment.
• RMC must approve sprue placement.
• RMC must supply all metals. We alloy the metals ourselves during the casting process and use single melt metals only, including gold, and we only use .9999 gold in our alloys.
• We will cast your gold as well, but it must be solder free and contamination free and match the color and alloy of the piece. We recommend no more than 30 percent old gold mixed with new. We will also cast 100 percent old gold. Both options void the guarantee and are cast in their own mold rather than a production pour, which costs more. We also need enough gold for a button and sprues, which we work out with you before the pour.

RMC Finishing Guarantee

• We finish and inspect all finished goods to the highest standard.
• Prongs and crowns are polished and bur free.
• Zero porosity.
• Stones are tight and straight.
• Sizes are within 0.1mm.
• Bezels are clean.

RMC Repair Guarantee

• Prongs and crowns are polished and bur free.
• Porosity is burnished and laser filled if required.
• Stones are tight and straight.
• Sizes are within 0.1mm.
• Bezels are clean.
• We advise on any additional work the piece needs before we start.

How to Send Us Work

• Start with the quote form. Tell us what you have and attach photos or files. Rob reviews every request himself and replies with pricing and a turnaround estimate.
• Approve the written quote. Nothing ships until you have a number in writing.
• Ship insured to Logan, Utah. Pack each piece separately and include a copy of the quote in the box.
• We work it, inspect it and send it back insured. Every piece is checked against the guarantee above before it leaves the shop.

Questions Jewelers Ask Before Sending the First Job

Do you work with jewelers outside Utah?

Yes. Most of our trade work arrives by insured mail from stores and bench jewelers across the country. Request a quote with photos first, ship once the number is approved, and finished work returns to you insured. Local jewelers along the Wasatch Front are welcome to drop off at the Logan shop.

Is there a minimum order for casting or repairs?

No. We cast single custom pieces and we cast production runs, and a single ring sizing is as welcome as a tray of repairs. Casting is quoted per job because size, design and quantity change the cost, so a one off and a run of fifty each get their own number.

Can you cast my customer’s old gold?

Yes, with conditions. The gold must be solder free and contamination free and match the alloy of the new piece. We recommend blending no more than 30 percent old gold with new. Old gold castings are poured in their own mold and fall outside the Production Guarantee, and we need enough metal for the button and sprues.

Which metals do you cast?

Yellow, white, rose, green, blue and purple gold, plus platinum, palladium and silver. We alloy our own metals from .9999 gold during the casting process and use single melt shot only, which is why we can guarantee porosity free castings.

What does the guarantee actually cover?

Three written guarantees cover production, finishing and repair. In short: porosity free castings when the pattern, design, sprues and metal meet our criteria; finished goods with polished bur free prongs, tight straight stones, clean bezels and sizes within 0.1mm; and repairs held to the same finishing standard with porosity burnished or laser filled.

How do you price repairs for a retail store?

From Geller’s Blue Book at 40 to 60 percent off for trade accounts. You quote your customer at Geller retail and keep the margin. Pricing moves with gold and supply costs, so we quote from the current Geller Express Pricing until the new book is released.
