Trade Jewelry Repair for Jewelers

Rocky Mountain Casting takes in repair work from jewelry stores and bench jewelers across the country and sends it back finished to a written standard. Every piece is worked by a master jeweler with 43 years at the bench, under SISMA laser welders and HD digital microscopy, and priced from Geller’s Blue Book at 40 to 60 percent off so you can bill your customer at retail and keep the margin. You protect your reputation. We do the work.

How Trade Repair Works With Rocky Mountain Casting
- Send photos and the job list. Use the repair quote form or call (435) 512-1019. A photo of the damage under decent light lets us quote most repairs without seeing the piece.
- Get a written, itemized quote. Priced from Geller’s Blue Book at your trade discount. You quote your customer from the same book at retail.
- Ship insured to Logan, Utah. Pack each piece separately, include your quote and your customer’s job ticket in the box.
- Bench work and inspection. Every repair is worked under the microscope and checked against the Repair Guarantee before it leaves. We advise on any additional work the piece needs before we start, not after.
- Finished and returned insured. Cleaned, polished, replated where applicable, and photographed under magnification so you have before and after images for the counter.

Trade Pricing From Geller’s Blue Book
Your repair quotes start with the current Geller’s Blue Book, the benchmark most retail jewelers already use to price repairs at the counter. Trade accounts receive 40 to 60 percent off book, which is your margin. If the book says a job retails for one hundred dollars, your cost from us is forty to sixty dollars and your customer pays one hundred.
Pricing moves with gold and the cost of supplies. Until gold stabilizes and the new book is published, we quote from the current Geller Express Pricing and recommend you do the same with your customers, so the two numbers always line up. Every quote is written and itemized before anything ships. Customers buy confidence in the jeweler in front of them, not the lowest sticker, and a clean written quote is part of that confidence. New to the book? Read our guide to Geller Blue Book pricing for retailers.
The Equipment on Every Repair
SISMA laser welders. Laser welding puts heat exactly where the join is and nowhere else. That means we can retip a prong next to an emerald, close a crack beside an opal, or fill porosity in a vintage shank without pulling the stones or risking the finish. It is the standard the top manufacturing studios run, and it is on every bench here.
HD digital microscopy. Every piece is inspected under high magnification, and we capture before and after images as we go. You get documentation of the workmanship and a visual your customer understands in two seconds. See the full equipment floor.
Complete Refinishing and Inspection
Repairs come back showroom bright. Each piece is cleaned, polished and replated with rhodium where applicable, then inspected against the Repair Guarantee at no extra charge unless you ask us to leave the finish as is. Your customer sees a piece that looks like it did on the day they bought it.
The RMC Repair Guarantee
This is the standard every repair is checked against before it ships. It is in writing because you are putting your name on the work.
- Prongs and crowns are polished and bur free.
- Porosity is burnished and laser filled if required.
- Stones are tight and straight.
- Sizes are within 0.1mm.
- Bezels are clean.
- We advise on any additional work the piece needs before we start.
The Production and Finishing guarantees that cover casting and finished goods are on the services page.
Why Stores Outsource Repairs to Rocky Mountain Casting
Instead of an in house bench: no bench jeweler’s salary, no laser welder to buy, no microscope, no plating line, and no backlog when the one person who can size platinum takes a week off. You keep the customer relationship and the retail margin. We carry the equipment and the risk.
Instead of the big repair facilities: your work is not routed through a queue of benches with a quality control stamp at the end. One master jeweler handles it, the guarantee is written, and you can see the before and after. When a customer asks who did the work, you have a real answer.
Instead of hoping: every quote is itemized, every piece is photographed under magnification, and we tell you before we start if a repair is not worth doing. Trust is what we sell, to you and to the customer standing at your counter.
Questions Jewelers Ask About Trade Repairs
Do you take single repairs or only batches?
Both. One ring sizing is as welcome as a tray of twenty repairs, and both are priced from the same Geller Blue Book at your trade discount. Stores that batch repairs weekly tend to save on shipping, but there is no minimum, no setup fee and no account volume requirement.
How do I send repairs to you from out of state?
Request a quote with photos, approve the written number, then ship insured to our Logan, Utah shop with each piece packed separately and your job ticket in the box. Finished work returns to your store insured. Most of our trade repair arrives this way from jewelers across the country.
Can you repair a piece with heat sensitive stones without removing them?
Usually, yes. SISMA laser welding puts heat only at the join, so we can retip prongs beside emeralds, opals, pearls and treated stones that a torch would damage. We tell you up front when a stone still needs to come out, and we set it back tight and straight when the metalwork is done.
Do you repair invisible settings?
Yes. Invisible set rings and bands are one of the repairs most shops send out, because the channel geometry has to be rebuilt to tolerance before the stones will seat. We rebuild the rails, reset the stones and inspect under magnification so the top reads as one unbroken surface again.
What happens if a piece is not worth repairing?
We tell you before any work starts. Part of the Repair Guarantee is advising on any additional work a piece needs, and that includes telling you when a hollow chain, a plated piece or a worn out shank will not hold. You can then offer your customer a rebuild, a custom chain or a replacement instead of a repair that fails.
How should I price the repair to my customer?
Quote from the current Geller’s Blue Book at retail, which is the same book we price from. Your cost from Rocky Mountain Casting is 40 to 60 percent below that number, and the difference is your margin. Until the new book is out we both quote from Geller Express Pricing so the numbers line up.
